The first Season for Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant is finally upon us. Included in all of its various changes is a staple of the Seasonal content formula – Season 1 allows players to unlock permanent buffs, called Season Blessings, for all characters taking part in the Seasonal content to speed up their journey, or at least make it more rewarding.

Season Blessings are uniquely tied to the Battle Pass rather than the Season Journey (though the Season Journey does progress the Battle Pass through the Favor system). By progressing through Diablo 4 Season 1 Season Blessings become easy to unlock and take advantage of for the next few months while Season of the Malignant is live.

What Are Season Blessings in Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 Seasonal Blessings Season 1 Malignant Urns Smouldering Ashes

In Diablo 4, Season Blessings are Season-long bonuses that apply to all characters taking part in the new content. These bonuses aren't given to existing character on the Eternal Realm, only fresh Seasonal characters started after July 20, 2023. These bonuses can be unlocked by earning Smouldering Ashes in the Battle Pass (both the free and premium versions). These Ashes can then be spent on gaining Tiers in a choice of five bonuses to grant to all Seasonal characters.

  • Urn of Aggression: +3% boost to XP from monster kills for the first tier
  • Urn of Bargaining:+5% boost to Gold received from selling items to Vendors for the first tier
  • Urn of Reclamation: +10% boost to chance to find Rare Materials when Salvaging for the first tier
  • Urn of Prolonging: +15% duration of Elixirs for the first tier
  • Urn of Malignance: +5% boost to chance to find upgraded Malignant Hearts for the first tier

Each of these Season Blessings have four unlockable Tiers, which improve the effectiveness of each ability as more Smouldering Ashes are offered. There are diminishing returns, though, as some players have discovered that XP gain is capped at an 8% boost.

Be sure to prioritize the XP gain, Rare Materials chance while Salvaging, and Malignant Heart upgrades before the boost to Gold and Elixir duration, as they will help you get through the pre-World Tier 4 content faster.

Season Blessings can be seen on the Season 1 home page in Diablo 4 after entering the game on a character. Players can find the Seasonal Blessing menu on the left side of the Season screen, which opens up a choice of five Season Blessings. However, if your character is not at least Level 40, or has not progressed the Seasonal Battle Pass past Rank 8, the Season Blessings screen cannot be utilized.

After reaching Level 40 and getting some Smouldering Ashes from the Diablo 4 Battle Pass, open this menu and begin offering Ashes to gain your choice of Seasonal Blessing. As the Battle Pass continues to rank up, players will earn more Smouldering Ashes, and thus be able to increase the power of their Seasonal bonuses gained through this system even more.

When a Season comes to a close, Season Blessings will also be removed from characters as they are transferred to the Eternal Realm. As such, only expect to use these blessings during the duration of Season 1.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S
