A Baldur's Gate 3 player has created a mod that allows gamers to play as a skeleton, offering players a fun twist to Larian Studios' new game. There are several classes to choose from in Baldur's Gate 3, with each class having its attributes and a specific playstyle.

Baldur's Gate 3 has classes formed by the backbone of the classic Dungeons and Dragons class system, bringing together classic archetypes of the RPG genre. Choosing a Baldur's Gate 3 class will determine physical traits, dialog options, and what unique actions the player can perform. Baldur's Gate 3 also features a subclass system and several races for players to pick from. Choosing a race in Baldur's Gate 3 impacts the appearance and background of the character and the perception that NPCs have of it.

Nexus Mods user NellsRelo published the mod "Playable Skeletons" which adds a skeleton as one of the races available in Baldur's Gate 3. While the original Baldur's Gate has unique classes that made the game a hit, skeletons are not officially a class in Baldur's Gate 3. The skeleton of NellsRelo's mod has the base +1 Constitution, Darkvision, Immunity to Poison damage, and Vulnerability to Bludgeoning Damage. It also has the Skeleton Finger ability that can pick locks using just its bony finger once per short rest. Although it does not have the Larian level of implementation, the Baldur's Gate 3 skeleton mod includes two subclasses. The Sturdy Skeleton wears armor parts on its body and has an additional +1 to Constitution and +1 to Charisma. The Dextrous Skeleton is an unarmored skeleton with +2 to Dexterity,

But unlike the officially available classes in Baldur's Gate 3, clothing currently doesn't work on the skeleton, and the Skeleton Finger skill is broken. NellsRelo's mod has almost 7,000 views on the Nexus Mods website and over 100 downloads. It's worth noting that this isn't the first time the user has released the Playable Skeletons mod, as NellsRelo made the same mod available during Baldur's Gate 3's early access. This also isn't the first time a mod changed Larian Studios' RPG, as a mod combined Baldur's Gate 3 and The Elder Scrolls, making the races from Bethesda's RPG series playable.

With Baldur's Gate 3 finally available on PC, players can check out one of the new RPGs coming out this year, a selection with big names such as Final Fantasy 16, Diablo 4, and Remnant 2. Given the positive reception of audiences and critics and so much content to explore, the expectation is that Baldur's Gate 3 will be among the most talked about games of the year.

Baldur's Gate 3 is out now on PC and will come out on September 6 for PS5. An Xbox version is in development.
