The work received praise from other Baldur's Gate 3 players, with some stating their temptation to go on a new campaign with a Dragonborn of their own.

After three years in early access, Larian Studios' latest release launched on August 3 to critical acclaim. With a rising count of over 687,000 concurrent players on Steam, the full launch of Baldur's Gate 3 was considered a great success. Larian Studios has kept the momentum going strong by releasing a hotfix patch for Baldur's Gate 3 within 24 hours of the game's launch. The patch addressed over 150 glitches and issues, including several split-screen and save files issues related to cross-save functionality. As players continue their campaigns in Baldur's Gate 3, one player decided to go back to the game's character creator for a bit of shell-shocking fun.

On Reddit, a user named RobinFromGrimoire created a Dragonborn Monk to look like Donatello, one of the four titular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and posted their work on the r/BaldursGate3 subreddit. The OP used purple eye shadow as a stand-in for Donatello's iconic purple mask, and gave the character green scales to match. Though the OP only posted the character's face, the Dragonborn Monk wore leather armor with a yellow and green color pattern that looked similar to Donatello's body. The Monk class in Baldur's Gate 3 can wield a quarterstaff as a two-handed weapon, which RobinFromGrimoire used as a stand-in for Donatello's bo staff.

The post from RobinFromGrimoire received over 1.4k upvotes on the r/BaldursGate3 subreddit within the first six hours of posting. Given the fact that both Baldur's Gate 3 and the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem were released in the same week, the timing of RobinFromGrimoire's post was not lost on other users. The OP received praise for their work and for their attention to detail. Some Baldur's Gate 3 players also joked that Donatello would be both a Monk and an Artificer, were such a class officially added to the game by Larian Studios. Only time will tell what plans the Belgian studio has in store for Baldur's Gate 3.

With characters such as Donatello and Papa Smurf being made in the character creator, Baldur's Gate 3 has given players plenty of creative inspiration for their campaigns. It remains to be seen what players will come up with next.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now for PC and launches on PS5 on September 6. An Xbox Series X/S version is in development.
