Players that want to obtain the Pulse Rifle in Remnant 2 (without starting their character as an Engineer) will need to obtain two Quest Items. Those items are the Decorum Cipher and the Memory Core II, and they can be found within two dungeons on N'Erud. This guide contains full details on locating those items, and it will help players get their hands on Remnant 2's Pulse Rifle.

Remnant 2: How to Get Pulse Rifle

Confirm Pulse Rifle is Available

Before players attempt to obtain the Pulse Rifle, they should confirm that is available in their current roll of N'Erud. To do this, fans should make their way to the planet's first open map (either Abyssal Rift or Phantom Wasteland) and locate the Custodian. For the uninitiated, this NPC is within a structure next to the Ascension Spire Checkpoint, and the images that are above should help Remnant 2 players find him.

Upon reaching the Custodian, players should turn their attention to the seated statues that are just inside the entrance to the spire. There is a hole in the ground behind the statues on the left, and Soulslike fans should fall through it and use the elevator that they encounter to descend. At the bottom of elevator, fans will find a circular metal device, and it is the key to confirming that the Pulse Rifle is available.

More specifically, if fans can interact with two points on the device, then it is possible for them to obtain the Pulse Rifle in their current roll of N'Erud. And if players can only interact with one point on the device, or there are no interactable points, then it is not possible to obtain the weapon. In that situation, fans will need to re-roll N'Erud (either through Remnant 2's campaign or Adventure Mode) and repeat the process that has just been outlined.

One interactable point on the device means that either the Decorum Cipher or the Memory Core II is available in the current N'Erud roll. In that scenario, players can insert the lone Quest Item into the device to gain access to the Core Booster amulet, though they can also claim that item while collecting the Pulse Rifle in a suitable world.

Get Decorum Cipher & Memory Core II

Once a player has confirmed that the Pulse Rifle is indeed available in their roll of N'Erud, they must work to obtain the two requisite Quest Items. Here are details on how those items are obtained, and players should return to the circular device at Ascension Spire when they have both of them in hand:

  • Decorum Cipher

This Quest Item is found in the Terminus Station dungeon, which can appear on any of N'Erud's open maps (Abyssal Rift, Eon Vault, Phantom Wasteland, and Timeless Horizon). More specifically, players should make their way to the Checkpoint after the train event at the end of this Remnant 2 dungeon and crouch under the cables to the right. This action will put fans on a path to a ladder and walkway, which will allow them to enter the train's engine room (through a hatch in its roof) and claim the Decorum Cipher.

  • Memory Core II

For this Remnant 2 Quest Item, players must turn their attention to the Dormant N'Erudian Facility dungeon, which can also appear on any of N'Erud's open maps. Here, fans will encounter a locked red door that can only be opened after obtaining the Biome-Control Glyph, and the Memory Core II is beyond it.

To obtain the requisite Glyph, players should search the dungeon for a corridor with large tanks that appear to be filled with purple smoke. A section of the railing in this area will be missing, and fans should pass through that opening to fall onto the pipes below. Players should then follow the path ahead, riding an elevator when they encounter it, to reach a room where the Biome-Control Glyph is sitting on a metal container.

Insert Decorum Cipher & Memory Core II

Players can now insert the two Quest Items into the circular device beneath Ascension Spire to deactivate the nearby barriers. Fans can then proceed into the area that was blocked by those barriers to find Remnant 2's Core Booster amulet (increases weakspot damage by 50% for 10s after killing an enemy) and the Pulse Rifle.

Remnant 2 is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
