Vault of the Formless is a dungeon in Remnant 2 that players may encounter as they explore the world of N'Erud. While this dungeon is not extremely difficult to complete, there are some puzzles and secrets that can appear within it. This guide is here to provide information on those puzzles and secrets, and it will help players make the most of their time in Remnant 2's Vault of the Formless.
Remnant 2: Vault of the Formless Puzzles
Locked Red Door
The Vault of the Formless dungeon always ends with players descending through a large facility with rotating devices. There is a locked red door at the bottom of this facility, which is opened with the House Lythla Glyph. Here are details on how to obtain that Quest Item in Remnant 2, and fans will find the Rupture Cannon handgun in the room that is beyond the door:
- Enter the second rotating device in the large facility.
- Wait for it to rotate.
- Follow the path that is revealed to reach the House Lythla Glyph.
Remnant 2: Vault of the Formless Secrets
Before detailing the Vault of the Formless secrets, it is important to emphasize that there is only a chance that they will appear in a roll of the dungeon. Players should thus not expect to encounter every one of these secrets in a single Vault of the Formless, and it may take several re-rolls to see them all. It is also worth noting that the vast majority of these secrets can appear in other N'Erud dungeons, and fans should keep them in mind as they continue to explore.
Ventilation Shaft Next to House Lythla Glyph
There will occasionally be a container to the left of the House Lythla Glyph, and breaking it will give Remnant 2 players access to a ventilation shaft that leads to a room with the Metal Driver ring (Killing Blows increase Reload Speed by 5% for 7s. Stacks 3.).
Claw Platform
Players will occasionally encounter a room within the Vault of the Formless in which a large claw interacts with a rotating device, similar to the dungeon's final room. This claw will ultimately extract a platform from the rotating device, and fans should jump onto it, wait for the claw to rise, and then jump to a broken walkway to access a room with the Atom Splitter melee weapon in Remnant 2.
Aerary Glyph Door
There is a chance for another glyph door to appear in the Vault of the Formless, and it is opened with the Aerary Glyph. Players will find this Quest Item on a corpse as they work through the dungeon, and the Progeny mini-boss and Crisis Ring are in the room beyond the door.
Locked Glass Doors & W.D. 109
While working through the Vault of the Formless, players may encounter a locked glass door that has a purple item behind it. To open that door, fans should continue moving forward until they encounter the W.D. 109 mini-boss. Fans that bring this Remnant 2 boss to the locked door will find that it opens, and the purple item inside is the Excess Coil ring (Activating a Skill grants a Shield for 25% of Max Health. Cannot stack with itself. Lasts 10s.)
Ventilation Shaft Near Locked Red Door
Fans may come across a locked red door that is adjacent to a room with a purple item in it. If that occurs, players should look nearby for a small room that is filled with containers, and they should break those containers to reveal a ventilation shaft.
Players that pass through that shaft will eventually reach the Rerouting Cable ring, and they should be on the lookout for a hole on the right side as they draw near to the exit. Through that hole, Soulslike fans will see a broken cable, and they should shoot the container between the two sections to open the red door and gain access to the Blackout Ring that is beyond it.
Flooded Room
While not exactly a "secret," it is possible for the Flooded Room event to occur in the Vault of the Formless. This event centers around draining a large vertical room and collecting three items (detailed below) from within it before it refills with water. Notably, fans will only have one chance per Flooded Room event to grab the items, and Movement Speed-granting Traits, consumables, and gear can make things significantly easier.
- Subterfuge Link (Ring): After killing an enemy, increases the Cast Speed of the next Mod or Skill Cast by 35%. Lasts 15s or until consumed.
- Insulation Driver (Amulet): While BULWARK is active, gain 15% to all damage dealt and HASTE.
- Generating Band (Ring): Regenerate 3% of Max Health per second while a Shield is active.
Purple Orbs
This is also not technically a "secret," though players that encounter the purple orbs in the Vault of the Formless may have questions about them. Quite simply, these balls are seemingly intended to be hazards that cannot be eliminated, and fans will need to maintain their distance from them as they work to complete this Remnant 2 dungeon.
