One talented modder has brought a bunch of stuff from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, including Link and his prosthetic arm, into the indie fighting game called Rivals of Aether. Custom game mods created through Steam Workshop can help players freshen up their experience with new content, like one instance in which a modder recreated Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 4 to improve some textures and enemies.

Rivals of Aether is a beloved platform fighter that emphasizes fast-paced combat and offers two game mods: Tether and Abyss. It's considered a Super Smash Bros. successor, which allows players to import custom characters through Steam Workshop. Those who are tired of the usual gameplay can use this opportunity to unleash their creativity and blend different mechanics together. Even without mods, Rivals of Aether is one of the best indie fighting games, which earned rave reviews for its intense gameplay.

One imaginative player known as RuberCuber on Reddit shared a custom mod that adds many gameplay features from Tears of the Kingdom to Rivals of Aether. They posted a clip that shows Link using his Ascend ability to lift into the air and throw Zonai bombs to blow up enemies. He holds onto a Zonai rocket to close the gap between his enemy and uses a paraglider to descend on the ground. In addition to the Legendary Master Sword, Link takes advantage of his prosthetic arm to perform melee attacks that knock back enemies. It looks like the modder even imported one of Tears of the Kingdom's Sky Islands in the fighting game to expand its world into the sky.

In the comments section, many people praised the original poster for implementing Tears of the Kingdom's gameplay features without issues, with some claiming that they would play the mod for hours. Some also jokingly said it gives them hope for what Link could be like in the next Super Smash Bros. game. This is not the first time RuberCuber has created custom mods that bring characters from other games into Rivals of Aether. Earlier this year, they imported Hallow Knight's Hornet and made a moveset involving flashy aerial strings.

Players can take inspiration from Tears of the Kingdom to import its innovative mechanics into their favorite games. These fan-made mods can be used to design new characters and change the components of gameplay. It remains to be seen if more custom mods based on Tears of the Kingdom will be shared in the future.

Rivals of Aether is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
