A talented fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has shared an impressive recreation of King Rauru in crochet plushie form. The creation has gained the attention of the crochet and Tears of the Kingdom communities alike, with plenty of praise for the fan for both their idea and their execution of it.

Rauru plays a big role in Tears of the Kingdom, providing guidance to both Link and Zelda through the journey of the game. Though players interact with Rauru fairly rarely over the course of the game, defeating the Ancient Evil wouldn't have been possible without him, and it seems he has some big fans within the playerbase already.

Reddit user cutebutfunnyusername shared several images of the King Rauru plush they created, showing it off from multiple angles. According to cutebutfunnyusername, the plush was made without a pattern, and while it isn't their first crochet project, it's the first time they'd made one freehand. The OP also noted that they found difficulty in deciding which elements of Rauru's design to incorporate, as his design is fairly intricate with a lot of little details on his clothes. Based on how overjoyed fans are looking at the design, though, it seems cutebutfunnyusername found a good balance.

The artist shared additional details about the piece, including that it took them just under three weeks to create the plush. The eyes were made out of felt and decorated with acrylic paint, while the hair was made out of twelve fin shapes that were stitched together to create the finalized look. Several fans professed that they wanted it and would gladly pay to purchase one, or even for a pattern or tutorial so that they could recreate it for themselves.

Crochet has become a popular medium for fans to pay tribute to their favorite games and characters over the years, especially among Nintendo properties. Pokemon sees crochet creations frequently, and some Switch gamers have even made crochet projects based off of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Crocheting can be time-consuming and requires dedication to master, but when used to create charming pieces like this one, praise from impressed fans is usually not far behind.

As for Rauru, it remains to be seen if his character will have a presence in any future Zelda games or expansions. DLC for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has yet to be announced, but it's one possibility. Alternatively, a spin-off title like Hyrule Warriors might see the King's return. For now, fans of the character will have to speculate and enjoy projects made by fellow fans like this one.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
