This year's Gamescom will run from August 23 to 27 in the city of Cologne, Germany, featuring booths from major companies like Nintendo, Microsoft, and more.

The yearly Gamescom convention provides big developers with the opportunity to show off demos and previews for their upcoming games, as well as hosting a variety of gaming-related events. Many of the most anticipated titles of the year are often put on display, with some offering gameplay demos while others debut trailers. While most of the main attractions are found on the convention floor, there are usually several livestreamed events for fans to enjoy at home. This news and more was announced via Microsoft's Xbox News platform earlier today. In the announcement, the head of marketing for Xbox confirmed that this year Microsoft would be greeting fans with "the largest booth we’ve ever had at Gamescom." For a sense of the scale here, the Xbox booth will apparently contain, among other things, a "specially constructed 300-seater theatre." While its rival Sony is sitting out Gamescom this year, Microsoft appears intent on pulling out all the stops to deliver "fan experiences that are bigger and better than ever."

The announcement also confirmed that the Xbox booth will offer a mix of in-person and digital events. Convention attendees will get to experience "a huge amount of exciting new games coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass with fantastic photo opportunities and the return of Xbox FanFest," while fans at home can tune into livestreams including "deep dives, gameplay, and developer interviews." Several upcoming games were confirmed to be on display at the booth, including Starfield, Towerborne, Payday 3, and more. There will also be previews of new content that will soon be added to existing games such as The Elder Scrolls Online and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

As in years past, 2023's Gamescom is sure to be a big event for gamers all over the world, and it looks like the Xbox booth is going to be one of the biggest attractions this time around. Fans will no doubt be eager to get their hands on upcoming games like the hotly anticipated space RPG Starfield, and whatever Microsoft plans to show off in its bespoke 300-seat theater will definitely cause plenty of excitement. Those who can't make it to Germany to attend the convention in person will have plenty of opportunities to follow along with a plethora of livestreams and digital events hosted by Microsoft and several others.
