  • A Honkai: Star Rail player discovered a helpful tip to hide from enemies using small characters, allowing players to avoid random enemy encounters.
  • By hiding behind breakable objects and even desks, small characters like Bailu can avoid alerting enemies and continue the game's story without engaging in battles.
  • While the hiding trick is limited to three small characters currently, the addition of more characters in future updates will likely expand the usefulness of this strategy.

A Honkai: Star Rail player discovered that using a small character lets them hide from enemies. The HoYoverse title has a variety of enemies that players can encounter while exploring its worlds. They then enter a turn-based battle if their characters come close to these monsters.

With the rollout of Version 1.2, Honkai: Star Rail introduced new bosses and enemy types as it expanded on its world-building. Although most of the monsters scale up with the players' Trailblazer Level, the new additions still challenged them to farm upgrade materials to build their characters in order to form just the right team comp. But for some, random enemy encounters in Honkai: Star Rail could get bothersome, especially if players weren't ready to fight because characters had low health or their team wasn't strong enough.

Aside from running away from enemies until their alert meter disappears, Reddit user Triet2008 shared that Honkai: Star Rail players could hide from them if they use small characters. In a short clip, they showed Bailu, who is a child, hiding behind a breakable object and not alerting the Simulated Universe enemies in front of them. They further proved that this trick worked by letting Bailu reveal herself to fill up the alert meter and hiding again to stop the enemies from pursuing her. The player also switched to Caelus, who is a tall character, to show that he wasn't able to conceal himself.

Additionally, Triet2008 shared that small characters could also "hide" behind desks, even though their head was sticking out. Meanwhile, fellow Honkai: Star Rail players found this tip helpful and "cute," with one saying that they could finally continue the game's story because they could avoid enemy encounters.

As of now, Honkai: Star Rail only has three small characters: Bailu, Hook, and Clara. This meant that players had very limited options to pull off the hiding trick, especially since Bailu and Clara were both five-star units that could be difficult to pull in the Standard Warp. Fortunately, the list is expected to grow in the near future with the rumored arrival of four-star character Lynx, who is the youngest sister of Serval and Gepard, in Version 1.3.

Dodging enemies all the time could put some players at a disadvantage because they could potentially miss out on certain item drops, such as Trace materials in Hokai: Star Rail used for upgrading characters and their skills. Nonetheless, the small character trick could still be helpful, especially for players who step away from their games for a bit.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation 5 version will release in Q4 2023.
