Assassin's Creed Jade gameplay footage has leaked online from the in-development mobile game's ongoing closed beta. Ubisoft is working on a significant number of Assassin's Creed games for release over the next several years and Assassin's Creed Jade is one of the most interesting. Assassin's Creed Jade is being developed specifically for iOS and Android devices. It's the most ambitious Assassin's Creed third-person action experience on mobile yet.

The Assassin's Creed franchise has a long history on mobile devices, going back to its first mobile spin-off Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles in 2008. In the years since, Ubisoft has released several mobile spin-offs, including Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery, Assassin's Creed Pirates, Assassin's Creed: Memories, Assassin's Creed Rebellion, and several others. These games universally departed from the main series in style and gameplay, sacrificing key aspects of the Assassin's Creed experience to accommodate mobile devices' limited performance and controls.

Assassin's Creed Jade is Ubisoft's most ambitious mobile project yet. While mobile devices still have performance limitations, Ubisoft is working to ensure Assassin's Creed Jade is as authentic to fans' expectations of the franchise's action as possible – with some caveats. In leaked footage from Assassin's Creed Jade's closed beta, Ubisoft's efforts can already be seen. The gameplay shows a sprawling open environment, a story-driven mission structure, stealth investigations, and fast-paced combat involving weapon swapping with both melee and ranged weapons.

The leaked gameplay footage of Assassin's Creed Jade runs for nearly 90 minutes. It spans multiple missions with the new Assassin's Creed protagonist seeking to free settlements from occupying Xiongnu forces. The player levels up from 16 to 19 over the course of the video, unlocks nodes on a talent skill tree, crafts and upgrades their weapons and equipment, and showcases a broad swathe of Assassin's Creed Jade gameplay overall.

There are still limitations present in the game due to it being limited to mobile platforms, of course. The touch-screen controls can be seen on the right-hand side of the screen, there are a dozen button elements cluttering up the UI, and it's very likely that Assassin's Creed Jade will feature monetized progression systems not unlike Diablo Immortal. It's akin to a full premium Assassin's Creed experience, but still different in notable ways.

It should be clarified that the leaked gameplay footage from Assassin's Creed Jade is from the game's beta and is subject to change. That footage leaked and remains watchable is a surprise. Still, it's undeniable that Ubisoft and its development partner for Assassin's Creed Jade have done an impressive job recreating the experience of Assassin's Creed to the degree it has. Ubisoft will hopefully share some official footage of Assassin's Creed Jade in the near future.
