Genshin Impact has revealed the requirements for entering the Fontaine region in the upcoming Version 4.0 update. The new Genshin Impact update will arrive nearly one year after the Sumeru region was made accessible for the first time, and players will need to make sufficient story progress to reach Fontaine.

Genshin Impact Version 3.8 released on July 5 as the final update for the Sumeru region. The update introduced Veluriyam Mirage, a mythical and forested area that holds several mini-games and secrets. Once Version 4.0 releases, the Veluriyam Mirage area will no longer be accessible, and the Fontaine region will finally be available to explore. The new update is expected to release later this month, so Genshin Impact players only have a few weeks left to play mini-games, complete any remaining event quests, and unlock various rewards from the Veluriyam Mirage.

The official Genshin Impact Twitter account shared an update with players regarding requirements that must be met to enter the Fontaine region. Once Version 4.0 is live, all Genshin Impact players who have completed "Archon Quest Prologue: Act 3 Song of the Dragon and Freedom" will automatically unlock the Realm of Farakhkert Teleport Waypoint in Sumeru. This particular waypoint will be located near the entrance to Fontaine, allowing players to easily fast travel between Sumeru and the new region. Moreover, players who have completed the "Archon Quest Chapter 3: Act 6 Caribert" will automatically gain access to the Fontaine Archon Quest in Genshin Impact. Although Fontaine will be accessible to players who complete all the Mondstadt story quests, HoYoverse strongly recommends catching up with all the story quests in the Sumeru storyline.

Quest progress for optional areas in Sumeru are not required to gain access to Fontaine. This means players who focused solely on completing all the Sumeru main story quests will still gain entry into Fontaine alongside new players who completed the entirety of Genshin Impact's Prologue story. HoYoverse will likely share more details in the Genshin Impact Version 4.0 Special Program live stream this week.

The requirements for entering Fontaine are straightforward, and millions of Genshin Impact players will likely be ready for Version 4.0's launch this month. Fontaine will be a unique destination for Genshin Impact fans due to its stunning architecture and locales. Additionally, the region will present unique gameplay sequences not seen in the game's other regions, including the ability to swim underwater for a set duration.

Genshin Impact fans who want to know more about the Fontaine region and its story quests should tune into the Special Program airing later his week. HoYoverse will also release new Genshin Impact promo codes as watch the live stream and learn more about Fontaine.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
