When players take their first steps into Disney Dreamlight Valley, they enter a magical valley where their neighbors are beloved Disney characters. While the village’s first residents are Mickey and his friends, including Donald Duck, Goofy, and others, the player can unlock additional characters shortly after beginning their adventure.
By completing the second story quest of Disney Dreamlight Valley, given by Merlin of Sword and the Stone fame, the player can gain access to the Dream Castle. The Dream Castle serves as a hub for the various themed realms the player can explore. Immediately upon entering the Dream Castle, the player is granted the opportunity to unlock and visit one of the game’s first three realms.
The player has the choice from three realms located on the first floor of the Dream Castle: the WALL-E Realm, Moana Realm, or Ratatouille Realm. The first realm they choose is free to unlock, and the other two will require 3,000 Dreamlight each before the player can gain access. Dreamlight can be earned through completing various tasks throughout the Valley. Here's how players can unlock Remy, the rat chef from Ratatouille, in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How to Start “An Important Night at the Restaurant”
The player can start the quest “An Important Night at the Restaurant” by choosing to unlock the Ratatouille Realm in the Dream Castle. If this is the first realm the player unlocks, the door will be opened for free. If not, the player will have to spend 3,000 Dreamlight to unlock the realm. The player can start the quest by speaking with Remy after entering the realm.
How to Complete “An Important Night at the Restaurant”
Upon entering the Ratatouille Realm, the player is whisked away to Remy’s Kitchen, a palatial plate-pleasing palace. The player will likely notice the green chest resting on the kitchen floor, which they can collect to receive the Black Slacks clothing. Unsurprisingly, now that they’ve entered a giant kitchen, the player will have to complete some tasks involving quite a bit of cooking. The player should seek out Remy to start his quest.
Wash Dirty Dishes
Ratatouille’s five-star chef, Remy, is in the middle of an intensely busy night at the restaurant, and the player wants to help out. Their first task is to clean dirty dishes that are piling up in bus boxes around the kitchen. The player needs to locate the three boxes and clean the dishes by using the Royal Watering Can, which was obtained during Merlin's first quest. Once done, return to Remy.
A Demonstration of Culinary Skill
The player is determined to help out with preparing meals for tonight’s guest, but Remy is a little skeptical. Before the player can make anything to be served to the guests, they must demonstrate to Remy their ability to cook. Remy will task the player with preparing a variety of recipes using ingredients found within the realm. These ingredients have no cost and the player can use as many as they’d like, which makes for a great opportunity to experiment and unlock recipes besides those Remy requests. It’s important to note, however, that meals or ingredients obtained here cannot be removed from the realm. Here are the meals the player will need to craft for Remy:
Prepare Any Meal Using Fish
The first meal Remy would like the player to create is any meal including fish. The ingredients the player can use are available on tables throughout the kitchen, and the player can grab as many as they’d like. The fish can be obtained from a table in the back of the Restaurant where, upon the top shelf, the player can grab Rainbow Trout.
Once the player has obtained the Rainbow Trout and any other ingredients they’d like, they must create a dish using the fish. The most simple dish to craft for this purpose is Grilled Fish, which requires only the Rainbow Trout to prepare. Head to the cooking pot and toss in the fish and show Remy the dish once done.
Prepare Any Meal Using Fruit
Similar to before, the player can create any recipe they’d like that uses any fruit ingredient except tomato, which is classified as a vegetable in Dreamlight Valley. Fruit can be obtained from any of the ingredient shelves, and it does not matter which fruit is used. Again, the easiest recipe to prepare, Fruit Salad, uses just a single fruit of the player’s choosing, although the dish makes it look like many more were used. Prepare a dish then return to Remy once more.
Prepare An Appetizer
Now that the player has demonstrated their culinary competence, Remy asks the player to prepare a specific appetizer from two possible selections: Hearty Salad, or Bell Pepper Puffs. The player can choose either recipe and Remy will tell them exactly which ingredients are required. The two recipes are:

Find Remy’s Cookbook and Prepare An Entrée
Once the player has crafted the first three meals for Remy, he feels it's time to move on to more advanced cooking and asks the player to prepare and improve upon a simple entrée recipe. The player is once again given a choice of the recipe they’ll prepare: either Pizza or Veggie Casserole.
The player is instructed to locate the base recipe for their desired dish in a cookbook found in Remy’s KItchen. In preparing the meal, the player is instructed to add any spice or herb ingredient, which will alter the recipe and result in a different, more complex dish. Again, the spices and herbs can be found on the shelves throughout the kitchen. The recipes are unlocked through reading the book, but for reference they are:

Prepare a Dessert
Once the main course is out of the way, it’s time for dessert. Remy tasks the player with creating either one of two desserts: Banana Pie, or Apple Pie. The recipes are similar and, again, are easily created using the ingredients found in the kitchen:

Prepare a Ranch Salad
Immediately after handing over the pie to Remy, he informs players that the dinner rush has begun and he needs them to prepare a Ranch Salad, a five-star entrée. He tells the player which ingredients to grab, which are:

After preparing the dish, bring the salad to the serving window and interact with it to place the dish, then return to Remy.
Prepare Ratatouille
Now a notable food critic has arrived and Remy needs to impress him with the nostalgic noshing on a plate of Ratatouille. To craft this recipe, the player needs to grab the following ingredients:

Once prepared, bring the dish to the serving window and place it in the hatch, then return to Remy. Afterward, the player convinces Remy that he should move to the Village and open a restaurant.
Place Remy’s House in the Village
The player leaves the Ratatouille Realm and heads out of the Dream Castle. Upon opening the Furniture Menu, they will see an icon featuring Remy up at the top in the Requests tab. Click on the portrait and select Remy’s House to place anywhere in the Village.
Interact with the construction sign at the front of the site and Scrooge McDuck will show up requesting 2,000 Star Coins to finish the job. Once the house is constructed, Remy will appear in the Plaza and is unlocked as a villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
