There are several ways to interact with objects in Baldur's Gate 3, one of which is to send them to wares. While it is certainly not mandatory that players add their items to wares, it can make inventory management slightly less onerous. This guide is here to provide more details on this process, and it will give fans a solid understanding of how wares in Baldur's Gate 3 function.

Baldur's Gate 3: What Are Wares

To put things simply, wares are items in BG3 that a player intends to sell to a vendor. It is thus reasonable for fans to think about the "add to wares" feature as functionally identical to the "mark as junk" features that appear in many other RPGs, and an icon will appear on items that have been added to wares within a character's inventory.

While marking junk with icons definitely makes it easier to locate useful items within a character's inventory, it is not the main reason to send items to wares. Indeed, the primary advantage of using this feature is that it allows BG3 players to sell all their junk to a vendor with a single click. To do this, fans should simply interact with a vendor, click the toggle near the top of the trade window to switch to Barter, and then click "Sell Wares" in the bottom-left corner.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Mark Items as Wares

There are three ways to mark items as wares, and they are as follows:

  • Right-click on an item in the environment and select Pick Up and Add to Wares.
  • Right-click on an item in inventory and select Add to Wares.
  • Hold shift and left-click on an item in inventory.

As previously noted, there are several options for interacting with items beyond adding them to wares. For example, players can send items from the environment and their inventories to camp, which is a great way to deal with Camp Supplies. There is little reason for a Baldur's Gate 3 character to carry those items around, and fans can find any items that they have sent to camp in a Traveler's Chest at the campsite.

Players can also send items to other party members' inventories by right-clicking on them and selecting the relevant option. Not only is this feature used for equipping BG3 party members with new gear, it can also help keep inventories sorted. Indeed, a fan that never distributes loot that their main character has collected may quickly find themselves overwhelmed by the state of their inventory.

Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on August 3 for PC and September 6 for PS5. An Xbox Series X/S version is in development.
