There are many complex puzzles in Baldur's Gate 3 that will require the gamer to think about the solutions. Sometimes they require attribute or skill challenges to progress. Other times, the game is much more heavy-handed, putting a gigantic door blocking the way to treasure that requires a specific key.

But nothing is more blunt than the Scuffed Rock "puzzle" Baldur's Gate 3. Gamers can hover over the stone and see an Ornate Chest underneath it but there aren't any buttons or other objects to get help from and interacting with it only makes the character comment on the enormity of the boulder. So how are gamers to get the loot underneath it?

  1. Select the Scuffed Rock.
  2. Manually drag the Scufed Rock away with the mouse (PC) or thumbstick (console) out of the way.
  3. Loot the Ornate Chest.

Those who have disabled the sarcophagus trap are likely aware of this process but can't believe it applies to this situation. Some items such as vases, crates, and mirrors can be manually moved in the game. But players can be forgiven for believing that the giant boulder is immovable.

Change party members to use the strongest one as not every character has the strength to toss the boulder out of the way. It doesn't take an extremely high strength and either Shadowheart or Lae'zel should have enough without any extra levels to shift the rock.

This is about all there is to say. It's not a puzzle so much as it is a tutorial for moving objects. Take this lesson and apply it often, there are surely other secrets out there that only need a curious player to move an item to discover.
