The Owlbear Nest is a cave in Baldur's Gate 3 that is located to the west of Druid Grove. As its name suggests, this cave is home to an Owlbear, though that is not all that players will find as they explore it. Indeed, there is also a Gilded Chest within Baldur's Gate 3's Owlbear Nest, and this guide explains how players can go about opening it.
Baldur's Gate 3: How to Open Owlbear Nest Gilded Chest
Players that are attempting to open the Selune Gilded Chest should set their sights on the stone statue that is across from the container. To reach this statue, fans must simply use the jump action to get over the small chasm, and they should maneuver their BG3 party to the wall behind the statue when everyone is across.
Upon reaching this position, each party member will perform a Perception check, and a successful roll will reveal that there is a Selunite Prayer Sheet on the ground. BG3 players should now pick up that document, return to the Gilded Chest, and read the Prayer Sheet when standing directly in front of the chest. This series of actions will unlock the container, and fans should simply adjust their position and read the document again if that does not occur.
To note, players may find that the Gilded Chest does not unlock when using a Cleric to read the Selunite Prayer Sheet. This seems to occur when the Cleric's patron deity is Shar, who acts as a counterpart to Selune. If a fan is in that situation, they should be able to resolve it by giving the document to another party member, if one is available, and trying again.
Furthermore, players that have Shadowheart in their parties may encounter some resistance from her as they work to open this chest. While fans can overcome this resistance through skill checks, they can also simply agree to her demands and then ignore them. Indeed, it is still possible to loot the Gilded Chest after going along with Shadowheart, though that may have a negative impact on her attitude.
With respect to what players will find inside the Gilded Chest, it holds an assortment of items of varying quality. Of those items, the Idol of Selune may be the most intriguing. Indeed, while it is currently unknown if this small statue has any purpose, players may find some use for it as they work to beat Baldur's Gate 3.
