There is a Goblin named Sazza in a jail cell toward the back of the Druid Grove camp in Baldur's Gate 3. Right away, somebody is threatening to shoot her while she's in her cell. If players prevent this execution and interact with Sazza, she offers an opportunity for players to meet her leader in exchange for her freedom.

The Druid Grove is not a very hospitable faction in Baldur's Gate 3 (just ask the Tieflings) but the Goblins are on a completely different level. This decision leads to some natural consequences and evil and good-aligned characters have some strong feelings about the move.

This article divulges consequences within the game and reveals information the player's character may not know. Gamers committed to role-playing may wish to stop reading and find these things out for themselves.

Saving Sazza

  • Recommended for siding with the Goblins against the Druids.

It must be mentioned that this is seen as an evil choice. Any good NPC who sees the escape happen must be killed in combat while good companions express immediate disgust for even entertaining the escape. An evil character will love this choice.

It must be mentioned that players can save Sazza and still side with the Druids after meeting the Goblin leadership. Obviously, this choice makes siding with the Goblins more natural but a group of friends playing together may want to talk to the Goblins before rendering a verdict in the upcoming war.

Of course, some gamers doing an evil campaign may want to take the side of the Goblins in this war. In this case, swap party members to somebody that can pick locks and bust her out. Instead of killing everyone in the camp, there is an exit along the cliffs behind her cage, accessible by jumping.

Leaving Sazza

  • Recommended for siding with the Druids against the Goblins.

While the player may have spared Sazza's life, Sazza and the Goblins are not shy about their intentions; to kill everyone in the Druid Grove. There is a bit of nuance to the rationale but the goal is the same, regardless, and saving Sazza doesn't change the minds of the Goblins on this one. Leaving her is all upside and no downside for a good-aligned character.

Leaving Sazza here is an anti-climactic choice but most neutral and good characters will prefer this outcome.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in Early Access on PC and will be available on August 3rd, 2023. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
