In a game as difficult as Remnant 2, players will find a ton of value in a character who can provide support while also dealing decent damage by themselves. The Alchemist Archetype is exactly this—a support-oriented class that specializes in buffing the combat potential of allies.
Raw power isn't enough in Remnant 2's harder difficulties, which is why having an Alchemist in the team might be the smart play. This Archetype is excellent in group play and completely viable even when playing alone. Here's how to unlock it.
How to Get the Alchemist Archetype in Remnant 2
The Alchemist is hidden in Losomn — specifically, the Dran slum areas found in the Morrow Parish and other similar areas. If players start in the Beatific Palace or elsewhere in their campaign, it's recommended to start an Adventure Mode run on Losomn and reroll it until they start in the Morrow Parish.
After arriving at the streets of the Dran city, look for broken sewer grates along the walls and stand in front of them. There's a chance that a monster will grab the player by the legs and drag them off into the unknown. This is usually what happens after attempting to pick up an item placed suspiciously in front of such a grate.
Instead of dying, players will find themselves on top of a pile of bones. Outside the canal is a larger pile of bones and the same monster that dragged the players there in the first place. Kill the creature, and it will drop a Mysterious Stone.
From here, players can return to Ward 13 and speak with Wallace, the dedicated Archetype NPC. For a price, he'll give players the Philosopher's Stone Engram, which unlocks the Alchemist Archetype for their current character and any future character as a new starting class. Make sure to bring some Lumenite Crystals and at least 1000 Scrap before talking to Wallace.
As mentioned, the Alchemist is a support-focused Archetype that makes heavy use of empowering gases and consumables. Alchemists enjoy the effects of items like Mudtooth's Stew for longer, and they can throw vials that create buffing zones for themselves and their allies. This Archetype synergizes well with every other Archetype in the game, especially the DPS-oriented ones like the Hunter and Gunslinger.
Characters that start out as Alchemists will begin with a Wrangler 1860 rifle, the Double Barrel sidearm, and an axe for close-quarter melee combat.
