Despite having only four starting character class options (or five, for those who pre-ordered) Remnant 2 found ways to keep players on their toes by including a number of secret Archetypes that require some exploring through the game's many worlds. Of those secret classes, the Archon established itself as the most difficult characters to find, but arguably the most powerful in the game

Players eager to get their hands on this powerful Archetype as a new main character or a potent secondary to boost an existing loadout do not need to look any further. Here's how Remnant 2 gamers can earn this secret special character variant.

Requirements For The Archon Archetype

The required loadout for players to access the Corrupted Biome and earn the Archon Archetype

The Archon Archetype was not designed to be stumbled upon organically. It requires a very specific character loadout, down to particular relics, rings, and Archetype skills. Additionally, acquiring this Archetype cannot be done until players unlock two other secret Archetypes, the Explorer and the Invader.

Players will need to become corrupted, which is a requirement to enter the Labyrinth's Corrupted Biome Portal to the Backrooms. Players will first need to replicate Ford's loadout, from armor set to amulet and everything in between. This is the required loadout to get access to the portal:

  • Armor Set (Headwear, Body, Leg, and Glove Armor): Realmwalker (Explorer Archetype)
  • Relic: Void Heart
  • Long Gun: Ford's Scattergun
  • Melee Weapon: Labyrinth Staff
  • Handgun: Cube Gun
  • Ring One: Zania's Malice
  • Ring Two: Anastasija's Inspiration
  • Ring Three: Black Cat Band
  • Ring Four: Amber Moonstone
  • Amulet: Leto's Amulet
  • Archetype Skill: Worm Hole (Invader)
  • Archetype Skill: Fortune Hunter (Explorer)

How To Get The Gear For The Archon Archetype

The gear that is required for players to become corrupted and reach the Corrupted Biome Portal is quite specific. Many of the items require completing quests or specific actions before players can acquire them. Here is a brief breakdown on how to obtain these items.

  • The Realmwalker Armor Set is earned when players complete the main story of Remnant 2 and fulfill the requirements to unlock the Explorer Archetype.
  • Void Heart Relic: After beating Sha'Hala in N'Erud, players will need to travel to Alepsis-Taura in N'Erud and find the orb in the void portal as they enter it. Alepsis-Taura won't unlock until 24 hours of real-time have passed since Sha'Hala was defeated, and this cannot be done if players have the Override pin.
  • Ford's Scattergun is included with the Explorer Archetype, or by pleasing the Eternal Empress in Yaesha and using the ring she gives the player to unlock a secret door in the floor.
  • To find the Labyrinth Staff, walk to the left of the shifting portal in Labyrinth, and walk off the ledge to the immediate left of the broken staircase, where a path will materialize. The next gap will be briefly filled with a vanishing platform. Players will have to defeat the Bastion boss to acquire the staff.
  • Cube Gun can be crafted by McCabe in Ward 13 after players obtain its core material, the Conflux Prism, by defeating the Labyrinth Sentinel.
  • Zania's Malice can be found in Root Earth's Ashen Wasteland in a small opening that players will need to crawl through. The opening can be found opposite the minor checkpoint that is beyond the bridge where the parked cars are found.
  • Anastasija's Inspiration is available for purchase from Whispers in Ward 13, or found on Root Earth.
  • Black Cat Band is in Reggie's shop in Ward 13; however, it does require the player to die multiple times.
  • Leto's Amulet can be purchased from Reggie after flopping 100 times. Flopping occurs when players exceed their weight capacity and attempt an evasive roll.
  • Worm Hole (Invader) is the level five skill for the Invader Archetype.
  • Fortune Hunter (Explorer) is acquired by reaching level 10 with the Explorer Archetype.

How To Get The Archon Archetype

The Corrupted Biome Portal to acquire the Archon Archetype

Once players have equipped their character with all the necessary gear, they will need to go to the Corrupted Biome Portal by going through the shifting portal in the Labyrinth, in the same location where the materials for the Enigma handgun can be found. Players will be able to access this once their character is corrupted, which will be evident by the red corruption field surrounding them. Using a Biome Portal Key, players can access the yellow Backrooms, where the material to create the Archon Engram is hidden.

Once players have entered the bright yellow maze of hallways, they will have 90 seconds to locate the item before being kicked out of the room. If the item isn't found in time, there is an infinite number of opportunities to return to the room, so there is no need to panic. For a direct route to the Strange Box that is required, players should travel through the room in this sequence: right, right, second left, right, left, left, right, left, right. They will reach a dead end and find the material there.

It is worth noting that the room also contains two very powerful items: the Gunfire Security Lanyard, which enables an automatic magazine to reload over time; and the Bisected Ring, which grants the player infinite stamina. The best way to find these items is to use the Explorer's Fortune Hunter Archetype Skill, which will identify valuable items through walls and indicate their location on the mini-map.

Once the Strange Box has been found, visit Wallace and trade it along with 1,000 Scrap and 10 Lumenite Crystals. Once the transaction is completed, players will receive the Hexahedron and unlock the Archon Archetype.
