The highly-anticipated sequel to Remnant: From The Ashes is finally here, with Remnant 2 hitting the shelves for eager fans worldwide on July 25, 2023. With multiple worlds to traverse and a whole new range of deadly creatures to overcome, there are a wealth of options to truly customize the player experience, most notably with the game's different Archetypes.

While there are four Archetype options for players entering the game, there are even more to find as the story progresses. One popular favorite, the Gunslinger, was made available as part of the Remnant 2 pre-order package; however, those who did not pre-order the game will still be able to access it. So, here is how to unlock the Gunslinger Archetype in Remnant 2.

The Gunslinger Archetype

The Gunslinger is the perfect choice for players who enjoy gameplay that features high firepower. This Archetype specializes in dishing out high volumes of damage and does so with some of the best weapon handling in the game. Ammunition is a precious resource in Remnant 2, so players will also benefit from the Gunslinger's ability to conserve the little bullets they have in their possession.

The Gunslinger's Prime Perk, Loaded, is an incredibly influential ability that instantly reloads both of the player's weapons and triggers infinite ammunition for a limited time. This can be a real difference-maker in boss battles when reloading weapons take up precious time and leaves players vulnerable. Aside from this, the Gunslinger's other perks increase total ammunition carried, rate of fire, and reload speed, making this one of the best Archetypes for handling high volumes of enemies.

How to Unlock the Gunslinger

Unlocking the Gunslinger requires some patience and knowing exactly who to talk to. The key to accessing this Archetype, quite literally, is the NPC Mudtooth, who can be found in Ward 13 sitting at a table sleeping alongside his friend Reggie. He is a spritely old man who enjoys telling stories, which is the crucial detail to unlocking the Gunslinger.

In order to play as the Gunslinger, players will need to listen to Mudtooth tell stories until he no longer has any tales left to spin. While the premise is simple, albeit a little tiresome, Mudtooth won't use up all of his stories in one go. Generally, once gamers have played through the first two worlds, the old man will be more willing to exhaust his stock of stories.

Among the gifts players will receive, including the very useful Gunslinger's Ring and Gunslinger's Charm, is the Worn Cylinder, which is a battered barrel of a revolver firearm. With this item, the option to unlock the Gunslinger will be made available by visiting Wallace, who is upstairs in Ward 13, where players first selected their Archetype after the tutorial.

With the Worn Cylinder, players will now have the ability to purchase the Gunslinger Archetype to use in Remnant 2. However, Wallace won't craft this for players with a simple revolver barrel; it will also require some additional materials.

In order to complete the unlock, players will need to give up 1 Worn Cylinder, 10 Lumenite Crystals, and 1,000 Scrap. Scrap is the most common material and the main currency in the game; however, Lemunite Crystals are a little harder to find. These are generally dropped by elite enemies that are encountered on the player's travels.

Remnant 2 is available July 25, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
