While exploring the world of Yaesha in Remnant 2, players may encounter a corpse that is holding an Ornate Key. As indicated by the note that is next to this corpse, the key is used to unlock a lockbox in the Court, though finding the relevant container can be a difficult. Indeed, some fans may be confused about where to look for the Ornate Lockbox in Remnant 2, and this guide is here to alleviate that confusion by revealing the container's location.

Remnant 2: Ornate Lockbox Location

Players that are on the hunt for the Ornate Lockbox should begin on in the Widow's Court on Yaesha, the map upon which the Ornate Key is found. Here, Soulslike fans should make their way to the exit on the other side of the map. Players will find a hole with waterfalls just in front of that exit, and they should jump into it, making sure to land on the ledge that is halfway down first, to reach the pool of water at the bottom.

Fans should now follow the tunnel that leads out of the pool to enter a corridor that terminates at a chest. There is a brazier hanging directly across from that chest, and the wall next to it is illusory. Indeed, players can pass through the wall to the right of the brazier, and the path beyond will lead them into a bedroom where the Ornate Lockbox sits upon a table.

Remnant 2: Should You Open the Ornate Lockbox

Once the Ornate Lockbox has been located, players can pick it up and then interact with it in their inventories to unlock it with the Ornate Key. That said, the note that is near the key's initial location indicates that the container should not be opened, and the reward that fans will ultimately earn depends on how they approach this choice in Remnant 2.

More specifically, fans that open the Ornate Lockbox will receive the Thaen Seed, an item that can either be given to the Eternal Empress at the Red Throne or planted in the garden at Ward 13. If a player gives the seed to the Empress, they will receive the Burden of Rebel ring, which reduces Skill Cooldowns by 15% but also reduces Relic Use Speed by 25%. And if they opt to plant the seed, the tree that grows from it will bear Mature Thaen Fruit, consumables that revives the Remnant 2 hero upon death.

If the player instead decides to leave the Ornate Lockbox closed, they can give it directly to the Empress at the Red Throne to obtain the Red Doe Sigil. This amulet increases Relic Healing Effectiveness by 30%, and its effects double when the wearer is below 50% health. While this reward may not be as powerful as those that can be claimed with the Thaen Seed, Remnant 2 players that would like to incorporate it into their builds should certainly feel free to turn in the sealed lockbox.

Remnant 2 is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
