Combat is one of the central focuses of Remnant 2, and with it comes a struggle for players to keep their character's health bar replenished to avoid dying. This is especially the case for players who are on Hardcore Mode. One small detail in the health bar has puzzled a few players, with a distinct difference showing between the player's red health levels and an additional gray level. Here is all that players need to know about what gray health is and what it means for their survival in Remnant 2.

Gray Health, Explained

Occasionally when Remnant 2 players take damage in active combat, two distinct levels will appear on their health bar, a red one and a gray one. The red level indicates the player's active health as it stands at any given time, and running out of this will result in their character's death. The added gray meter, which is always longer than its red counterpart, offers players a second chance if they can survive their current encounter.

The gray health bar acts as a reserve for the player's health and indicates the maximum health points the player can have without using any healing methods. While this will not have any impact on the player during active combat, it will give them some amount of breathing room to regenerate a small amount when the dust has settled. The gray meter shows players the amount of health that can be restored over time when they are not under threat of receiving damage.

With this in mind, players who lose health during an engagement and survive may not necessarily need a relic or other healing method to tend to any wounds they got in battle, especially if they are a Medic. While the difference between red and gray health is rarely significant, it can be a real difference-maker, especially when resources are low.

Remnant 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
