Diablo 4's map is broken up into five major locations. Towards the end of the game, players will find their time split between a location called Hawezar and another called Kehjistan.
Kehjistan is a desert, filled to the brim with all sorts of dangerous enemies, several Kehjistan strongholds, and quest-giving NPCs. Players can find up to 44 side quests in this sandy location. Gamers looking to get as much renown as possible will want to complete them all. Also, since players will have renown reset with each season, they will need to do these quests over and over again. Here's how to find and finish all of them.
Scouring Sands Side Quests
The Scouring Sands covers Kehjistan from the Outer Gardens to the Crumbling Pass, then to the border of Alcarnus to the west. This massive section of land holds only five side quests.
Ravenous Necrolyte's Cache
- Pickup Location: The Outer Gardens
- Starting Item: Ravenous Necrolyte's Cache
- Prerequisites: Complete Act 3 of Diablo 4's story campaign
- Reward: Opened Ravenous Necrolyte's Cache
On the steps outside the Outer Gardens, players can find packs of Mother's Disciples and other enemies. Take out these enemies until one of them drops the starting item, the Ravenous Necrolyte's Cache. Continue to kill red-marked cultists and demons in the area to collect anima from them, sating the cache.
Traces of Iron

- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Elixir Cache
Take Jilian's family heirloom to Asyfa in the Iron Wolves Encampment near the waypoint. She will give players some gold, XP, renown, and a cache.
Strayed from the Path
- Pickup Location: Tarsarak
- NPC: Ciniss
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Herb Cache
Ciniss will tell players about some Knights Penitent who betrayed them. Head to the marked location on the map and kill the three Knights, then return to Ciniss for the reward.
Payment Past Due
- Pickup Location: Tarsarak
- NPC: Nageed
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Salvage Cache
Nageed will take players to look for the Miner's Lockbox in Rezam's Excavation. Return the item to him.
Shadow of Alcarnus
- Pickup Location: Forlorn Badlands
- NPC: Torlos
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Gem Cache
To complete this side quest, kill 12 fly demons in the Forlorn Badlands in the marked area, then talk to Torlos again.
Amber Sands Side Quests
In Diablo 4's Sanctuary, the Amber Sands surrounds the bottom half of the Altar of Ruin in Kehjistan. This large, northern section of the desert land's map is home to eight side quests.
Unsafe Travels

Mahjoob asks players to find a ghost palm flower for him in the highlighted areas.
Road to Ruin
- Pickup Location: Dunes of Despair
- NPC: Mahjoob
- Prerequisites: Unsafe Travels Side Quest
- Reward: Salvage Cache
Players will come across Mahjoob in the Dunes of Despair. Kill the bugs and demons that spawn around him. Escort him home, then interact with him twice to start the next quest.
The Only Cure
- Pickup Location: Road to Alcarnus
- NPC: Mahjoob
- Prerequisites: Road to Ruin Side Quest
- Reward: Elixir Cache
After finding Mahjoob outside, head into his home to look for the item he needs; it's located just inside the door to screen right. He'll direct players what to do with it, but before he can take the medicine, a demon will explode out of him. This is an elite vampire, so be ready. After it is dead, the quest will be complete.
Mirage
- Pickup Location: Dunes of Despair
- NPC: Mysterious Figure
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Murmuring Cache
There is a sort of ghost man in the Dunes that asks players to "release" him. Follow him, destroy the buried effigies, then kill Jazadar at the end.
Desiccation
- Pickup Location: Searing Expanse
- NPC: Naglaa
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Murmuring Cache filled with Murmuring Obols
Naglaa can be found on the ground here; talk to her and give her a healing potion. Talk to her again, and she'll charge players with taking out four fly nests in the highlighted area. Head to Zakarum Chapel to talk to Naglaa again.
The Pilgrim's Footsteps
- Pickup Location: Searing Expanse
- Starting Item: Old Book
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Boon for the Faithful
Interacting with the Old Book will highlight a small area on the map; there is a statue inside this location. Go to the statue and use the Diablo 4 Emote Wheel to earn the Boon of the Faithful, a treasure chest.
Symbol of Faith
- Pickup Location: Zakarum Chapel
- NPC: Amr
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Salvage Cache
Amr will ask for the holy symbol from the Tomb of the Saints dungeon in Kehjistan. Players will have to defeat the graverobber, then take the symbol back to Amr.
Butchers of the North
- Pickup Location: Zakarum Chapel
- NPC: Zarshala
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Cache
Zarshala will ask players to kill 35 cannibals outside the church.
Side Quests in Caldeum
Calduem is a rather large enemy city in the center of Kehjistan. There are six more side quests located in and around this central locale.
The Way of the Three
- Pickup Location: Gates of Hell
- Starting Item: Unknown Altar
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Rare Chest Armor
To complete this quest, head to each of the three locations marked on the map above, then interact with each with the Cheer emote. Each altar will light up with a different colored flame. Next, head back to the Gates of Hell and find the Unknown Altar; its three sections will be lit with each of the three colored flames. Interact with the altar, and a portal will open in the floor. Head inside.
Interact with the head NPC inside the Mysterious Gateway, then talk to the living NPC nearby. She directs players to find the Communing Pillar nearby, which will spawn several demons. Slay all of them, but be careful; there are loads of Elites, and they'll keep spawning for a while. Once they're dead, the quest will be complete.
In Desperate Times
- Pickup Location: Imperial Library
- Starting Item: On Caldeum's Defenses
- Prerequisites: Complete the main campaign first
- Reward: None
After interacting with the book On Caldeum's Defenses in the library, head to the Imperial Gardens and ask the statue for help with the emote wheel. The statue will drop a chest with some cash inside.
The Weapon of a Wolf
- Pickup Location: Residential District
- Starting Item: Iron Wolf Sword
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Salvage Cache
The Iron Wolf Sword will drop randomly from a Triune cultist enemy in the Residential District of Caldeum. Return the sword to the NPC named Barez in the Imperial Library. After this quest is complete, players can get the random drop for the next quest, To Serve Again, called the Iron Wolf Armor.
To Serve Again

Take out enemies in Caldeum near the Abandoned Iron Wolves Garrison until one drops the Iron Wolf Armor. Give this item to Barez in the Imperial Library.
Remnants
- Pickup Location: Prison Of Caldeum
- Starting Item: Crumpled Note
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Cache
Interact with the Tortured Prisoner on the floor to get the Crumpled Note, which will prompt players to look for Hader in Caldeum. Look in the highlighted part of the map, and Hader will run away, going into the Blocked Passageway. Players won't be able to follow him, so they will need to interact with the piles of rubble near the entrance until they uncover the Hideout Entrance.
Go inside the hideout and break the furniture blocking the way to Hader. Speak to Hader, and he'll say he is being hunted by Knights Penitent. They will spawn, and players will need to protect Hader. Kill all the Knights, then talk to Hader again.
Ragged Coastline Side Quests
West of Caldeum, south of the Amber Sands and north of the Southern Expanse, the Ragged Coastline is home to 11 side quests. Most of these are located in the northern part of this section of the map.
A Wolf's Honor
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Asa
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Rare Weapon
After talking to Asa in the Encampment, head to the Forgotten Ruins and talk to Asa again, who is now standing by the entrance to the instance. Pick up Tala's Belongings off of one of the corpses inside. Then, pick up Alim's Belongings off of the next corpse. Go back to the Iron Wolves Encampment and talked to Asa once more.
On the Hunt
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Haddad
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Cache
Haddad sends players to talk to Dawood, an NPC near the coastline. Head into Malik's hideout and defeat him and his group of marauders with Dawood in tow. Return to Haddad to finish the quest.
More Value than Gold
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Asa
- Prerequisites: A Wolf's Honor and On the Hunt side quests
- Reward: Elixir Cache
Talk to Asa at the oasis' edge. Defeat the bandits in the Dahlgur Oasis, then head into the dungeon that spawns when they're dead. Go to the rubble and attack it. Head past the rubble and look for the seven Plague Demons, and kill each one. Next, kill Dahlgur Putrifier. Talk to Asa afterward.
Head of the Snake
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Haddad
- Prerequisites: More Value than Gold side quest
- Reward: Salvage Cache
Speak with Haddad in Iron Wolves Encampment, then with Asa. Follow them and talk with Asa again. She will direct players to look for the hideout entrance pillar, which is in the Scorched Plateau. Place the medallion, then head down into the entrance of the hideout. Kill everything inside, then speak to Dawood. This will begin the next quest, A Moment of Peace.
A Moment of Peace

Head back to Asa at the Encampment, and speak with her. Talk to Dawood.
Guardians of the Pit
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Heddam or Heldam
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Leather Cache
Head to the highlighted area, and kill skeleton enemies until the Champion spawns. It's an Elite; slay it once it appears. Return to Heddam.
Strange Remedies
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- NPC: Asyfa
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Herb Cache
Collect 12 Digested Gutweed from enemies in the Blistering Strand, and give them to Asyfa.
Unusual Ore
- Pickup Location: Jagged Coast

- Reward: Salvage Cache
Ore Veins along the Jagged Coast have a chance to drop this item; bring it back to the blacksmith in Iron Wolves Encampment.
Timely Correspondence
- Pickup Location: Iron Wolves Encampment
- Starting Item: Waterstained Letter
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Salvage Cache
Pick up the Waterstained Letter off of a corpse in the Encampment. Go to Gea Kul, and give the letter to Aih'Setal.
Seeking Refuge
- Pickup Location: Scorched Gulch
- NPC: Tamiyyah
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Leather Cache
Climb down into the pit near Tamiyyah, kill the demons, and collect the Lost Supplies. Bring them back up to Tamiyyah, who will direct players to speak with Haddad in the Encampment.
Endless Fortune
- Pickup Location: Forlorn Badlands
- Starting Item: Old Journal
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Murmuring Cache
This item only drops from Treasure Goblins in this area. Head to Gea Kul, and give the journal to the NPC Ostaf.
Southern Expanse Side Quests
The Southern Expanse takes up most of the southern part of Kehjistan. It surrounds Omath's Redoubt, then extends all the way to the coast and up to the edges of the city of Caldeum. The remaining side quests in the area will be here.
An Errant Flock
- Pickup Location: Southern Expanse just south of Caldeum
- NPC: The Traveler
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: None
This is the first of four side quests needed for the Acts of Atonement achievement. Speak with the Traveler, then defend him and his people as they make their way through the desert. Talk with the Traveler afterward. Players need to keep following him and killing everything that spawns nearby until the Traveler gives players his name: Edgar. Find Edgar again to start the next leg of this quest chain.
Acts of Atonement

This is the second side quest the for Acts of Atonement achievement. After talking to Edgar, talk to three nearby NPCs about Suna. Speak to Edgar, and he will give players the Inquisitor's Insignia. Bring this item and speak with the Knight Penitent guard in the highlighted part of the map to the north. He will let players inside the commandeered house. Speak with the Inquisitor, then kill all the Knights Penitent. Speak with the tied up woman; this is Suna. This begins the next quest in the chain, Justice Delayed.
Justice Delayed

Talk to Suna outside the house where she was being held by the Knights. She'll direct players to meet Edgar at Caldeum Overlook, which is south of Caldeum in the Southern Expanse. Head there and talk to him to start An Unlawful Order.
An Unlawful Order

Talk to Edgar, who has made his way down to the Caldeum Bazaar. He'll task players to find Osric’s hideout and kill all the Knight’s Penitent and Osric.
The Speaking Stone

- Reward: None
At the end of the dock, there is a fisherman who knows about a mysterious shrine. Interact with him. Head to the highlighted area and look for the statue. Interacting with the statue will start the next quest: A Voice from the Past.
A Voice from the Past
- Pickup Location: Central Plateau
- NPC: Izel the Statue
- Prerequisites: The Speaking Stone
- Reward: None
The voice will ask players to get the Vizjerei vessel to hold her spirit in the Conclave. It's inside a chest. Pick it up, then return to Ize. Place the vessel before the statue, then interact with the statue again. Izel will ask players to bring the vessel to the overlook in Caldeum. This will begin the next quest below.
Izel of the Vizjerei

- Reward: Murmuring Cache, Seal of the Vizjerei
Place Izel of the Vizjerei's vessel on the pedestal in the Vizjerei Athenaeum. Look around the room to find the conduit that Izel asks for, then return it to her. Next, Izel will spawn and players will need to kill her.
Final Straw
- Pickup Location: Pale Sands
- NPC: Basef the Merchant
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Leather Cache
After talking to Basef, take the Bag of Oats nearby. Search the highlighted location for Basef's camel, Neema. Untie the camel from where it is leash, then sprinkle oats on the ground to get Neema to follow. Kill anything that might threaten the camel, and keep sprinkling oats to lead her. If she stops, chat with her, then kill anything that spawns. Bring Neema back to Basef to get the reward.
Spotted Mushroom

Players can pick up this item in Lifesbane bushes. Bring the mushroom back to Veroka in Kyovashad.
Deadly Trade
- Pickup Location: Gea Kul

Interact with the board in Gea Kul; read the Work Notice. Find Shahos in Gea Kul. He'll ask for 20 Khazra Glands from highlighted enemies in the Eastern Basin. Return them to Shahos.
Pinch of Poison
- Pickup Location: Gea Kul
- NPC: Baraim
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Curative Cache
Baraim wants 15 Scorpion Venom Glands from marked enemies in the Scorching Dunes. Collect them and return to Baraim.
Late Shipment
- Pickup Location: Southern Expanse
- Starting Item: Battered Shipment
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Salvage Cache
The starting item, the Battered Shipment, is a random drop from a Scrapper in the Southern Expanse. Bring this item to Gea Kul, and give it to the NPC Aih'Setal.
When The Tide Comes In

- Reward: Elixir Cache
Talk to Yasir, then get Yasir a weapon from the nearby sword rack. Go to the highlighted areas, freeing Yasir's family members from the different locations. Exit the location and meet Yasir and family for the reward.
Sealed Khazra Offering
- Pickup Location: Hakan's Oasis
- Starting Item: Sealed Khazra Offering
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Glowing Khazra Offering
The Sealed Khazra Offering is a random drop from a Moon Clan Marauder enemy in Southern Expanse. Kill Khazra to harvest death anima from them to fill up the Offering's meter.
Zakarum's Plight

- NPC: Tameon
- Prerequisites: None
- Reward: Ore Cache
Go east from Tameon, and interact with the oasis there to get the Water-Filled Bottle. Give it to Tameon to finish the quest.
